There are sixty ideas
Sweet and liquid
Swimming in a warming pot
But they must be condensed
Into a small handful
Of solid pieces of hard candy
Such is the beginning of a new semester

Over the past two years, my sketchbook has become a place where ideas take root, processes are explored, and final thoughts prior to the unveiling of finished work are documented. This is a place for the viewer to glimpse into a typically internal and often non-linear progression of thought that occurs within the mind and heart of an artist. The changes and decisions that take places in this liminal state shape an artist’s initial idea into the final piece of work the viewer sees.
